Design just happened to me. At a young age and not realizing what I was doing, I started to create pieces that were full of color, texture, and found objects. I was curious and spontaneous with my explorations and designs, always trying to be different and to have pieces that were unique and stood apart. As time went on, I started to hone in on my skills and wanted to take a different approach. With technology as an ever present facit of current time, I decided to go the route of the Graphic Designer, but always had the heart of a painter.
My works draw from the Arts and Crafts Movement, as well as being inspired by surreal artists such as Dali, Escher, and Miro. I don’t feel that I take a political view with my artwork where they need to make a bold statement. Instead, my work explore the different textures of what is around us that people overlook day by day. I am a designer based solely on the objects and textures that are presented to me from my surroundings. My work is also based on what is around us constantly that we think is unimportant and trivial. For instance the sounds that bus makes has the affect of making a loud splattering noise on a piece, and the texture of a popcorn ceiling has the affect of making a bumpy surface that can be embossed on a poster. These are the things that I find interesting and want to put on display for everyone to take notice of.
Over the course of explorations, I have found that I not only can express myself through Graphic Design and painting, but also through edible art. I find that the medium of food is just as spontaneous as myself and does not easily render itself to conformity. I love to express myself in new ways and hope that as you explore my site, you will be set on an adventure through color and design.
Enjoy!
